Compare the Hyundai Elantra vs. Kia Forte

Hyundai and Kia are more closely related than you might think. Of course, they’re different manufacturers who each possess a distinctive design signature and model selection. Yet they share the same South Korean parent company, plus car platforms, powertrains and other technologies. The Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra are both hot-selling compacts that have each brought a sense of recognition to their respective manufacturer. So how do they stack up when they go head-to-head? Uncover the difference when you compare the Kia Forte vs Hyundai Elantra side-by-side.

Elantra vs Forte

Exterior

2013 Hyundai Elantra
The Hyundai Elantra is a compact sedan that makes a statement. It stands out with the Fluidic Design sculpture signature of Hyundai. The Elantra features a sculpted body, wraparound headlights and a significant wheelbase that gives it a lower, sportier profile.
2013 Kia Forte

The Kia Forte features an assertive stance as well as a gently arced roofline. That’s about it. The Forte is smooth, clean, and uncluttered on the outside. However, the simple styling of the Forte is quite plain in comparison to the Elantra.

Safety

2013 Hyundai Elantra

The 2013 Elantra has been recognized as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Elantra also boasts an extensive list of standard safety features like stability control, anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist, plus a new Steering Effort Assist system that helps you maintain control when sliding or skidding.

2013 Kia Forte

The Kia Forte has also been named a 2013 Top Safety Pick by the IIHS. However, the Forte’s standard safety offerings are not nearly as abundant as the Hyundai Elantra. Basic safety components of the Forte include: stability control, anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist and electronic stability control.

Manufacturer’s Basic Warranty

2013 Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai’s standard warranty offerings include a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, plus a 5 year/60,000 mile limited warranty which extends coverage to the Elantra’s non-powertrain components. Drive with confidence no matter where your Elantra takes you with Hyundai’s 5 year/unlimited miles 24-Hour Roadside Assistance service.
2013 Kia Forte
Kia comes close to Hyundai’s coveted warranty coverage, but just can’t close the deal. Like Hyundai, Kia offers a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty as well as a 5 year/60,000 mile basic warranty. However, Kia’s 5-Year 24 Roadside Assistance ends at 60,000 miles whereas Hyundai’s Roadside Assistance has no mileage limitations.
