Side by Side Comparison of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and the 2013 Kia Sorento

You deserve a midsize vehicle that’s able to meet your many demands, be it chauffeuring your kids to school during the week or hitting the road for a much-needed weekend getaway. Crossover SUVs have become popular midsize options because of their functional size and stellar fuel economy. Select the perfect crossover that provides optimal performance, ample space and provides peace of mind with a manufacturer warranty you can trust. Consider this side-by-side comparison between the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and the 2013 Kia Sorento.

Hyundai Santa Fe vs Kia Sorento

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Santa Fe is available in either 4-cylinder or V-6 engine varieties. The 4-cylinder Santa Fe is capable of 29 MPG HWY. Hyundai’s options are also engineered to provide power right alongside fuel economy. A turbocharged 4-cylinder engine option is available for Santa Fe drivers who desire both power and economy.
2013 Kia Sorento

Like the Santa Fe, the Kia Sorento offers both 4-cylinder as well as V-6 option. The 4-cylinder option averages 30 MPG HWY, just slightly more than the Santa Fe. However, drivers of the Sorento expressed concern with how underpowered the 4-cylinder engine felt. Kia does not offer a turbocharged option.

Size and Space

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Santa Fe provides you with a greater array of options to make room for more passengers and gear. Choose from the less expensive 5-passenger Sport or upgrade to the 7-passenger GLS. The Santa Fe also has room for all of your gear with an ample 13.4 cubic feet of cargo volume even with optional third row seating in place.
2013 Kia Sorento

The interior of the Kia Sorento may not be spacious enough for everyone. The standard size offering can squeeze in up to seven passengers with the optional third-row seating. This doesn’t leave a lot of room for storage space. The Kia Sorento lags behind the cargo capacity of the Santa Fe offering only 9.1 cu. ft. of volume when the third seat is in place.

Manufacturer’s Basic Warranty

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
Hyundai provides coverage you can count on with America’s Best Warranty™. Hyundai’s standard warranty offerings include a 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, as well as a 5-Year/60,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty which extends coverage to the Santa Fe’s non-powertrain components. Hyundai provides further peace of mind with its 5-Year/Unlimited Miles 24-Hour Roadside Assistance service.
2013 Kia Sorento
Kia comes closer than other competitors to matching America’s Best Warranty™. Like Hyundai, Kia offers a 10-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty plus a 5-Year/60,000-mile Limited Basic Warranty. However, Kia’s 5-Year 24 Roadside Assistance offering is capped at 60,000 miles whereas Hyundai’s Roadside Assistance has no mileage limitations.
